In the beautiful fountain of the Pompidou museum!

MY VISIT TO LA ROCHELLE

After spending almost three months in Paris I decided to go to La Rochelle and visit our old friends from the trip to France we made in 2011. I stayed two days in Axelle’s house, my “correspondante”.
The first day I spent it with the girls: Axelle and some of her friends. We went to a café that the girls love, is called “Café de la Paix”. We had coffee with crepes and we chatted for like four hours! We had so much to talk after almost four years.
Despite they already knew the city perfectly well, they came with me to museums and historical places I wanted to visit. We spent a lovely day together! And by night, a friend of hers that I didn’t knew, called Marianne, throwed a party for her birthday and invited me when she knew I was staying in Axelle’s house. The party was really fun and I got to meet lots of really nice people: I had a great time. Finally we went to sleep because we were exhausted.
Even if it was Saturday, we woke up early. On that day we were going to do something Axelle had promised to me the last time we saw: take a horse-riding lesson together, because we both love that sport. We went by bus to her club. We took two beautiful horses and spent two hours riding, jumping and laughing, because I fell three times in the class, which is, according to the teacher, a new record.
The only bad part of the day was when I had to leave. Axelle’s sister took me to the station where I had to take the train. When we said goodbye, we all cried and hugged, and like the last time, I promised to come back again.

It is 9p.m In Paris and it’s raining. Today was lovely; I woke up at 8a.m and my aunt had made me breakfast: croissants and coffee, the perfect (and really French) way to start my day. Then I went to the Musée du Louvre for the third time this week. I have promised myself that I would completely see it now that I am temporary living in Paris. Well, I haven’t finished seeing it completely today, but I finished seeing the Greek sculptures, finally! Then I went to work. I found myself a little job as a shop assistant in a little store. As usual it was fun, in the shop I get to meet a lot of different people: yesterday I helped an old lady trying a swimsuit, she also came and bought a red little dress. It was really nice to help her pick up something nice for her date.
At 5p.m I returned home and, as usual, I took the metro, listened to music and watched people eating their baguettes. That’s practically a ritual in here: have a baguette every day when returning home. Once I arrived, I took a long shower and cooked something for me, my aunt and my uncle. I made lasagna and now I am setting the table. Having dinner with the family is a perfect way to finish a perfect day.

my first day

It is amazing that twenty-four hours ago, I was in Montevideo, still packing, nervous and excited about this trip that was just going to start, and now I am in France. The twelve-hour trip to Madrid, plus the two hours one to Paris, weren’t exactly fun, because I don’t like traveling in planes; it is an exhausting and boring activity. When I arrived at the airport my uncle and aunt were waiting for me. It was great to see them after so long. They took me to their house, where I am going to stay for this year and they showed me “my” bedroom: it is a lovely little suite with a window facing the street.
I am so happy to be here and ready to go out, but I have to admit that I feel a little nervous and I’m already missing my home, my family and my friends. It’s not easy to be out of our comfort zone, but if I am already here I think I just have to enjoy!

Hello and welcome to my gap year blog. This will be a space for me to talk about my gap year in Paris, I hope you will enjoy it!!
